 APHA 2018 ANNUAL CONFERENCE MEETING

Dear Members and Colleagues of the Asia Politics and History Association,

 

We are pleased to announce that the 2018 Annual scholarly conference meeting of APHA will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Washington, DC. Our conference is being co-sponsored by the U.S.-Asia Institute (USAI) and The Mongolia Society. The venue will be at USAI, which is located at 232 East Capitol St. NE, Washington, DC 20003–easily reachable by walking 10 minutes from the metro stop at Union Station or Capitol Hill South. Street parking is also available.

 

The topic of this year’s conference will be “The Impact of the Indo-Pacific Strategy on Asia.”We have invited papers covering this topic from various angles. This strategy is the terminology applied by Australia, India, Indonesia, and the United States to explain their foreign policy priorities. All the different countries of the greater Eurasian region, from South Asia, ASEAN, China, Central Asia, and Northeast Asia now reflect this concept. The 20 minute presentations of the speakers will be published in an upcoming APHA Journal

 

Conference registration is from 9:00-9:30am followed by opening remarks and our Keynote Speaker, His Excellency OTGONBAYAR Yondon, Mongolian Ambassador to the U.S. Lunch will be provided by USAI. There will be two afternoon panels. A Japanese tea ceremony will conclude the conference activities. The Mongolian Embassy and Clarewood University are hosting a closing evening reception from 6:30-8:30 pm. The Embassy address is 2833 M St NW, Washington, DC 20007in Georgetown, accessible by the Foggy Bottom metro stop. A modest conference donation of $25 ($15 for students) for all attendees, including speakers, is most welcome.
